Did you know being in a group makes you less likely to fact check?
A great little study of 2,200 people which found that when you're in a group, you are less likely to check facts... also related to group think and ingroup phenomenon - which basically means we're drawn to people who are similar to ourselves - and we can be so strong in our desire to be 'in' the group that we do not raise any dissenting voices.
Kind of brings the 'you are the average of the 5 people you hangout most with' into focus... especially if you are a blind follower (aka sheep!) and to be fair, some of us are and we're comfortable with that. Its not easy 'not' being a follower.
